First public performance

Formal documentation of the orchestra began in 1970. Ludovick Stewart was appointed the President, Jack Parsley the Leader, George Dobinson the Chair, and by this time Brian (Tommy) Thomas was the Conductor. The orchestra performed its first “public” concert on 25 October 1970 at the Cambridge Arts Theatre, entitled Your Kind of Music. Here is the programme. See the foot of our Earlier Highlights from our Concert Archive page to access other early programmes.
